10 interesting facts about Kohinoor

Kohinoor diamond is one of the oldest diamond in the world. It is always been the India's heritage. Though it was taken away from us. Here are some interesting facts about it.

1. Kohinoor(mountain of light) name given to the diamond by Persians. Historical literatures suggests it was called as Syamantaka (jewel of sun). God of sun presented this jewel to one of the king of dwarka as a present.

2. Syamantaka was jewel of dwarka Kings which later possessed by Lord Krishna.

3. No historical data is known about the fate of Syamantaka after the death of Lord Krishna.

4. It reappeared in one of the mines of India. Here also there is a debate over the mine which recorded it's presence for the first time. Some says it was mined out in Golconda. Some says it was kollur.

5. Then it was possessed by Allaudin khilji, then it was passed on to mughals. Last Mughal bearer of this precious gem was the unworthy successor of Aurengzeb.

6. Later Kohinoor was looted by Nadir Shah who was the Shah of Persia. After his assassination 1747, the stone came into the hands of Ahmed shah Durrani one of his general. Then it was wore as a bracelet by one of the descendants of Durrani named Shuja Shah Durrani. He formed an alliance with united kingdom to resist force of Russia in Afghanistan. Now, Muhammad Shah Durrani overthrown Shuja Shah Durrani and flee to Lahore with Kohinoor.
7. At that time Ranjit Singh was the king of Sikh Empires. Muhammad Shah Durrani presented Kohinoor to Ranjit Singh. Kohinoor came back to India.

8. Later in second Anglo-afghan war, Sikh army was defeated and from here English crooks took over the Kohinoor. They gifted Kohinoor to Queen Victoria.

9. Kohinoor history is filled with greed and evidence of treachery. It is believed Kohinoor was cursed. It is untraceable as it cannot be possessed by only one person or a kingdom or a country.
No man should wear it in crown or in any part of the body as it brings Ill fate. Only God and women can wear it as an ornament. Now you can relate why developed nation like United Kingdom believes this saying. A queen wear this diamond in her crown 🤐

10. It was also believed if a country has Kohinoor diamond, no famine and drought can ever hit the place.
Amazingly no drought and famine ever reported in Great Britain after 1850 when Kohinoor became one of the English jewel.
