10 interesting facts about Kohinoor

Kohinoor diamond is one of the oldest diamond in the world. It is always been the India's heritage. Though it was taken away from us. Here are some interesting facts about it.

1. Kohinoor(mountain of light) name given to the diamond by Persians. Historical literatures suggests it was called as Syamantaka (jewel of sun). God of sun presented this jewel to one of the king of dwarka as a present.

2. Syamantaka was jewel of dwarka Kings which later possessed by Lord Krishna.

3. No historical data is known about the fate of Syamantaka after the death of Lord Krishna.

4. It reappeared in one of the mines of India. Here also there is a debate over the mine which recorded it's presence for the first time. Some says it was mined out in Golconda. Some says it was kollur.

5. Then it was possessed by Allaudin khilji, then it was passed on to mughals. Last Mughal bearer of this precious gem was the unworthy successor of Aurengzeb.

6. Later Kohinoor was looted by Nadir Shah who was the Shah of Persia. After his assassination 1747, the stone came into the hands of Ahmed shah Durrani one of his general. Then it was wore as a bracelet by one of the descendants of Durrani named Shuja Shah Durrani. He formed an alliance with united kingdom to resist force of Russia in Afghanistan. Now, Muhammad Shah Durrani overthrown Shuja Shah Durrani and flee to Lahore with Kohinoor.
7. At that time Ranjit Singh was the king of Sikh Empires. Muhammad Shah Durrani presented Kohinoor to Ranjit Singh. Kohinoor came back to India.

8. Later in second Anglo-afghan war, Sikh army was defeated and from here English crooks took over the Kohinoor. They gifted Kohinoor to Queen Victoria.

9. Kohinoor history is filled with greed and evidence of treachery. It is believed Kohinoor was cursed. It is untraceable as it cannot be possessed by only one person or a kingdom or a country.
No man should wear it in crown or in any part of the body as it brings Ill fate. Only God and women can wear it as an ornament. Now you can relate why developed nation like United Kingdom believes this saying. A queen wear this diamond in her crown 🤐

10. It was also believed if a country has Kohinoor diamond, no famine and drought can ever hit the place.
Amazingly no drought and famine ever reported in Great Britain after 1850 when Kohinoor became one of the English jewel.

We the majority

Hindus are 3rd largest population in the world and majorities in India. According to census 80% of Indian population is Hindu. Hindus were the people who lived in Indian subcontinent. They are Hindustanis for Persians. Religion followed by inhabitants of Indian subcontinent was Hinduism, some say it was always Sanatan Dharma. Islam introduced into the country when Turkish and Afghanis intruded India. Christianity came with Britishers. Slowly people of India were conversed and baptized. Some Hindus also change their religion by their own will.  In Hinduism itself, we have different sections of classes. Some are brahmins, some are mahajans, some are dalits etc. From ancient times dalits were called as untouchables. They were the people  who were uneducated and clean houses of others, pick up the rags on roads and sweeps the floors. They were servant. They were not even allowed to enter into the temples which is totally unacceptable. This brought hatred in the hearts of dalits against upper casts. Sometimes one's negligence is based on a reason.  Before 1950 mortality rate was high due to communicable disease. I think untouchability has nothing to do with cast or religion. It arose due to health concerns. As dalits do work related to garbage disposal, upper cast people started keeping distance with them. May be they were worried for their healths. After independence Ambedkar and Mahatma Gandhi empowered dalits by providing them several rights. Which is good. But in this Upper cast completely forgotten. They were projected as villains.What our politicians had to do was to provide education to every citizen. I voice health education here. Poor maintenance of personal hygiene has created tiff between the two subsections of Hinduism. Politicians are happy to create this separation. They inherited this vote bank politics from Britishers. Divide and rule. Make communal statements. Call dalits as weak and poor. Why Couldn't they brought out positivity in this negativity? Why Couldn't they guide dalits to maintain good health and personal hygiene? Why didn't they talk to upper cast and addressed problems of dalits? Poverty has nothing to do with cast. To all those politicians, I must say here many brahmins are also poor. But they never talk about them. Lack of knowledge created this divide. Upper cast's concern for their health was taken as a tool by politicians to do politics in favor of dalits. They never demanded better education for dalits. They never demanded health education for them. I can still see many dalit people are uneducated and running their lives in misery. They do not concern what they are eating and drinking. And surprisingly no one is educating them. Perhaps this won't be the scenario, if we had equal right of education for all from ancient times. Illiteracy and lack of knowledge about sanitation is the main reason behind this class based divide. Instead educating people, many leaders are providing everything free of cost to their respective vote banks. But aren't they playing with the people's health? Their true service would have been if they educate them about their health. Being fools people are happy with this free service. I know this unpopular post will not reach many parts of the country. But I am making an effort to erase this class divide. Speak up, learn more and be in good health.

Basic vs reality

Water shortage in many parts of the country! Feels so helpless sometimes. Why on earth some one dies because of thirst? Are we really living in 21st century, where we claim to have everything? If in the era of this so called modern world, some one dies because of hunger, thirst and extreme climates, then surely it's a defeat of the modernity. I am not saying this in anger. It's logical. In the textbooks of science we always read a question that asks us about the basic needs of human? And in response we used to write food, water and shelter as our answer. Now ask yourself. Do everyone around us have these basic amenities? Don't you hear and watch people dying coz of hunger, thirst and extreme weathers? Every year in winters people died coz of chilled weather. Than after 6 months same thing happens, but this time it's heat stroke which take away lives. The one who died like this, often they don't have shelter on their heads. WHO has got the data about the people who died coz of hunger. Many poor countries living below the poverty line. Poverty and hunger claiming their lives. Now in Maharashtra many parts have severe drought conditions. People living there are facing shortage of water. It's a crisis situation where we are trying hard to get food,water and shelter. Think are we heading towards high tech civilization or we just doomed ourselves by creating such situations?

Do not abandon your girl child

Girls are precious to life. Very few people in the world respects and cares for their girl. We can refer long history of past that shows women condition in India, which was never remembered to be good. So many ill practices are still prevalent whether it is female foeticide or dowry system. We make them suffer all the life.  she was murdered immediately after the birth. This is the first act of violence against her. If she survives then she was thrown out of the house in very early age to search a job to run her family. Parents never consider good education a important tool in girl's life. That makes her carefree and dumb with no knowledge of world. New people with clever instincts enters into her life. Play with her emotions. Fulfils their selfish motives. Then strand her all alone in no way zone. She get depressed and anxious and one day she decides to take her life. This is second kind of violence against the women that is done by harassing her mentally. If this is not the scenario then she was forced to get married to a person who tortured her for dowry. Murder her brutally for cash and gold. This is the third kind of violence. Who is responsible for this? Girls? No.  Girls are the most emotional creature on the planet. If you find a girl in a bad behavior, just try to know the cause. No girl wanted a bad name associated with her. In all three scenario it's parents who are indirectly involved in this cruelty against the girl. Good parenting is the key in the child's life. First, care for your girl. Look after her. Show her you as a parent think for her. Second, educate her. If she is educated enough both morally and academically, she will never fails in her life.

Moon myths and stories

While strolling in the garden, my vision got stuck in the sky again. I know I love stars. But this time it's our moon which took all the lime light. Luna🌙(yes! that's my name👼) earth's only moon is such a unique celestial body in the sky. In Indian mythology the deity who lives on the moon is named Soma. From ancient times moon was considered as major role player. We have Chandradeva in Hinduism, Khonsu as Moon deity in Egyptian culture, Tsuki- yomi as Lord of moon in Japanese culture etc. Scientifically moon plays crucial  role in supporting life on earth. Few mysteries and myth related to our beloved Chandamama are still yet to be uncovered. Many people thinks moon is not a satellite but a planet, rather a twin planet. Hindu mythology always considered moon as a planet. We have temples in India devoted to the nine planets of the solar system. Moon or chandrama represent mind and consciousness. It's very difficult to control our mind and thoughts. Now we can relate why Lord Shiva is shown with moon on his head. One more interesting fact about the moon is , it's cycle, i mean it's revolution around the earth. It's of 27 days.Still in astrology pundits uses lunar calendar for rituals and ceremonies. According to stories moon has 27 wives. That's why it takes 27 days to complete it's revolution. One more interesting story that comes to my mind is related to 'Amrit', Elixir. In India we all know the story of eclipse, role of Mohini and elixir pot. It was believed Ravana had the pot of this elixir portion in his umblical area. Mandodari Ravana's wife was a nymph. She went to the planet moon and took the pot of elixir for Ravana. Now interestingly during Sharad Poonam there is a ritual for keeping kheer(pudding of rice and mink) in moonlight. Ancestors believed that kheer may turn into elixir or nectar. It may be due to we had stories that advocates elixir pot on moon. May be people of ancient times started believing it and to get a drop of nectar in their food, they started keeping pudding in the light, on the day when the moon is bright. People of past and present times may think differently about the role of moon. But one thing is crystal clear, moon had and has a role in this world. Every story has a myth. And i think every myth is the fact of our age old history.

Modern Gods vs ancient Gods

We all in our day to day lives hear these lines. It represent our beliefs but,have you ever noticed any commonness in the lines that I wrote above with exclamation marks? First common thing is the fact that here we are praising a God who has some identity. Second common thing is that these lines represents religion to which we belong. These are our modern gods. Have you ever thought how ancient God who actually were Gods of different qualities are now become God with all qualities? Well even I don't know. When we closely studies ancient Gods of every religion, we will find people used to worship natural energies. Like in Vedas we have 'vayu deva', God of wind, in same line we have Shu, in ancient Egyptian mythology. Indra and Zeus as Gods of sky in Hindu and Greek beliefs. Ancient people worship nature in the form of God. The one who fulfils their demands was considered as Lord. Nature with its uninterrupted cycles provided natural gifts like rains ,sunlight , wind to the people. But as the geography of planet started distorting due to overuse of these gifts, nature Gods became furious. Now we have another clan of Gods like rudra in Vedas who was considered to be God of devastation. People now had representatives who could talk to the Gods. These people were called as Kings and queens. Now they became important. When famous epics of Ramayana and Mahabharata were written, the God became individuals. Then came Buddha,Mahavira, Jesus and now we have Sai Baba. This tells how the evolution of Gods took place. It's not bad to have a God with an identity. But as a evolved human being we must not dig ourselves into the world of newly created self proclaimed Babas and Gods. We already have enough Gods.🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏
